Sussex University is research-led and is strong in all its research areas, many of which are interdisciplinary. The purpose of the key technology areas is to feature our research strengths in a way which is industrially relevant. The information in these areas has been compiled by taking 'slices' through conventional academic subjects to present research at Sussex which combine the activities of a number of research groups in different subjects and Schools.

A great example of this is the Life Sciences and Medicine technology area which slices through Chemistry, various parts of Biological Sciences, Engineering, and the Medical School to present the research groups most likely to be relevant to Biotechnology companies, the Pharmaceutical industry, Medical Device companies and others.
